About

I grew up on a beef and sheep farm in rural Maine. My father was a veterinarian and my mother, though she had her hands full with 5 unruly children, managed to pursue her considerable artistic talent including weaving, sewing, drawing, painting and knitting. I didn’t think I inherited any of her artistic genes until I got much older, got my own farm, started spinning, dying, rug hooking, rug tufting, felting and a little knitting.

I have developed my own aesthetic in creating functional art pieces with the liberal use of color, fanciful reimagining of some of my favorite animals, flowers, sea creatures, insects and land/sea/garden scenes.

I primarily use the wool from my sheep but I do love to incorporate other fibers to keep things interesting.

Much of my wool is processed into yarn at local mills and I dye the yarn by hand. I also make hand spun yarn. Some of my wool is processed into felting bats that I use to create felted rugs, blankets/throws, and wearable art.

None of my work is production and all of my work is done with thoughtfulness and care. I dye my yarn in small batches and all of my pieces are unique and different- like snowflakes, no two are alike.
